Volunteer Position Description

Head Coach

Attend to all coaching needs for their team including:

  1. Ensuring a positive, safe and fun environment for players.
  2. Practice planning and implementation.
  3. Coaching and facilitating at games.
  4. Attending coaching clinics.
  5. Assisting with player evaluations.
  6. Communicating and collaborating with Team Manager.

Assistant Coach

Assist with all coaching needs for their team including:

  1. Ensuring a positive, safe and fun environment for players.
  2. Assist with implementation of practice plans.
  3. Coaching and facilitating at games.
  4. Attending coaching clinics is suggested but not required.
  5. Assisting with player evaluations.

Team Manager

Perform all administrative/ organizational duties for the team, in collaboration with the Head Coach including:

  1. Inputting and managing team schedule in Teamsnap.
  2. Coordinating game-day volunteers in Teamsnap under Assignments.
    • Gym Monitor (see below)
    • Scorekeepers (see below)
  3. Coordinating Practice Parent (see below)
  4. Collaborating with Social Committee in organizing team-building events.

Team Uniform Coordinator

Attend to all uniform-related tasks required by the team, including:

  1. Picking up team uniforms at a scheduled time and location.
  2. Distributing uniforms according to the roster/inventory sheet provided.
  3. Documenting the collection of all uniforms (shirts and shorts) at season's end.
  4. Ensuring that all uniforms are washed and ready to return in good condition.
  5. Returning all uniforms to the CNWB Uniform Coordinator at a scheduled time and location.

Gym Monitor

(Game-day position)

CMBA requests that each team has a regular Gym Monitor as well as a back-up. Both should be familiar with the following procedures, as outlined by CMBA:

1.    Identify and meet the other gym monitor and referees

2.    Ensure all spectators be respectful of all players, coaches, officials, and other spectators

3.    If spectators become unruly or voice their displeasure, politely ask them to stop. If they persist, unite with your fellow monitor and ask the spectator to leave the gym. If further assistance is required, ask the coach of the respective team to help

4.    Report any incidents on the game sheet using the Referee Comment section.

Scorekeepers

(Game-day position)

Perform minor official duties at the scoring table for CMBA games. This could be scorekeeping or timekeeping. Officials are very good at supporting parents who are new to this role. Typically, this role is shared among non-coaching/ managing families on a rotation that is established by the Team Manager.

Practice Parent

(1 required per practice if applicable)

CNWB requires that an adult of the same gender as the team be present in the gym at all team practices.

o    A girls team with an all-male coaching staff requires an adult female in the gym during practice.

o    A boys team with an all-female coaching staff requires an adult male in the gym during practice.

 Social Committee

 A group of parents who work in collaboration with the Team Manager and Coaching Staff to organize team building events periodically throughout the season.
