Evaluation Volunteers

We need help to ensure a smooth and effective evaluation process for all of our players. There are two different ways that you can get involved. Please read the descriptions below and email your availability to the appropriate coordinator.

1. ON COURT Evaluators

Some basketball experience, playing or coaching, is required for this position as it is in the gym, with the athletes, evaluating their skills.

If you would like to volunteer as an on-court evaluator, please follow these steps:

FIRST: Read the note below from our VP of Player and Coach Development, Kevin Johnston.

Greetings NW families,

Our 2024-25 season is right around the corner and we have posted our current evaluation schedule.  With that, we are in need of several evaluators for each session.  You must have some basketball experience for this role as this is on court.

We try to have parents not evaluate their own children, especially in the second sessions of game play for all age groups.  However, we know that people are busy and that it can sometimes be unavoidable.  In that case, I try to have parents on different courts than their children.

I know that past and present coaches already give a lot of time, but please help out if you can.

Please review the schedule and let me know what session (s) you are available for,  We need at least 6 evaluators per time slot.  If you are in the "whenever you need me" group, please tell me how many sessions you are willing to do.  If you sign up for example to evaluate U13 Boys, I need you to stay for the entire session and not just when your child is participating.  Some of our groups are quite large so we have to split them into smaller groups.  We want consistency in the evaluation process as much as possible.

If you have older athletes that want to help out with the younger age groups for some volunteer hours let me know.  Always need some rebounders or drill demonstrators and possibly also evaluating skill sessions.

Please reply with the exact session(s) you can do, and what age/gender your kids are registered for.

This is a fluid process, so I wont be able to respond right away as the schedule gets created.  I will confirm with you when I can.  It will take me some time and some sessions will have more than enough volunteers so please don't take it personally if I do not schedule you.  Please get back to me as soon as possible..

If you have any questions about the evaluation process please let me know.

Thanks

Kevin Johnston

SECOND: Review our Evaluation Schedule and find times that will work for you to be in the gym.

  • Please note the preference for not having people evaluate their own kids' groups when possible.

THIRD: Email Kevin at kjohnstonbball@gmail.com with your preferred availability.

  • Be specific in terms of the sessions you want to help with.
  • If your availability is highly flexible, please state that as well.

Please do not email Kevin about OFF Court volunteering. See below for those opportunities.

2. OFF COURT Administrative/Logistics Volunteers

NO basketball experience is required for this position.

There are different positions available for each date.  These positions are all on the administrative side of things.  This will help towards fulfilling your volunteer requirements (no previous basketball experience necessary).  If you are able to help please click the SignUp Genius link below and choose the date and time that works best with your schedule.
