At our June AGM and Meeting of the Board, Kevin Johnston was elected as our new President. Kevin will be the zone representative for CNWB at the CMBA level, while continuing the hands-on work of Coach and Player Development that he has coordinated for many seasons.
All members of Calgary Northwest, past and present, owe a huge debt of gratitude to our outgoing President, Dave Clark. Basketball in northwest Calgary wouldn't be the same without all of the years he's given to the sport. Our VP of Finance, Steve Flesch has worked with Dave for many years and offered the following thoughts on his tremendous contributions:
Calgary Northwest Basketball has been in existence since 2013 and since inception has been led by Dave Clark in the role of president. After 12 years in this leadership role, Dave has stepped down.
Not only has Dave lead CNWB for the past 12 years, but he was also the driving force in the amalgamation of Edgemont, Varsity and Silver Springs basketball programs to form CNWB. Prior to CNWB Dave held the same position with Edgemont basketball.
Dave’s contribution to CNWB is immeasurable. His tireless work, mentorship, organization skills, and leadership were instrumental in our success. Dave could always be found taking an active role in evaluations, coaching, gym scheduling, and anywhere assistance was required in addition to his time-consuming role as president.
Dave also served as CNWB‘s representative on the board of Calgary Minor Basketball Association since our inception. Another very time-consuming contribution unselfishly made by Dave over the past 12 years.
Kevin Johnson has now assumed the role of president and will build upon Dave’s legacy and continue to grow the program. We all owe Dave our thanks and appreciation for his contribution to Calgary Northwest Basketball and wish him all the best in his future. You will be missed but your contributions will never be forgotten.
