Requirements and What to Bring:
Please bring to following items to your first listed evaluation session. All Calgary NorthWest participants will require the following, in order to be allowed to participate in their scheduled evaluation:

Please ensure your child arrives at the gym 15 minutes prior to their scheduled time ready to play. All players must be prepared to play with their own basketball, indoor shoes, shorts and t-shirt. Please make sure your child has a water bottle and other food energy, if needed.

*Please not that all evaluation gyms are CLOSED to parents. The UofC Jack Simpson gym does have a glass viewing area above the gym; all other gyms do not have viewing areas.

*Mini, Bantam and Midget  Boys & Girls have a 3rd tentative time indicated on the schedule, if a player is required to attend this tentative session they will be notified of this.

Note: This year we are short gym space due to school renovations at some of our regular gyms. Due to this shortage we unfortunately need to have the skills session for Mini Girls and Boys on Sunday as listed in the table below.  For those families that have personal priorities and are unable to make the first session on Sunday, we ask two things from you;

  1. Send an email ASAP to Kevin Johnston at kevinjohnston2@shaw.ca letting him know your child’s name and that your child will not be able to make the first session.
  2. Have your child ready for the beginning of the second session on Monday, Sept 10th or Tuesday Sept 11th at 6:00 pm at WO Mitchell unless notified otherwise.  Please keep in mind that they may possibly be at this session for a potential of up to three hours.  If they are required to stay for a longer duration, we will ensure that they have adequate rest.

Evaluation Absence:
All players will have the opportunity to be evaluated. It is important that your child attend all of their scheduled evaluation. If a player is not able to attend their scheduled evaluation time due to sickness or any other valid reason please send an email to: coach@cnwb.caPlease include in this email the player’s name, birth date, age category, and a reason for not being able to attend their scheduled evaluation time.

Evaluation Overview for Parents & Players:
The overall purpose of evaluations is to place each player on a team where they have the best opportunity to have fun and develop as a basketball player. All registered players will be put on a team. The evaluation process will include a variety of skills/drills and team play. Calgary NorthWest basketball tries to offer 1-3 evaluation time slots, in order to best place our athletes. These evaluation time slots are based on the availability of facilities, numbers of athletes and volunteers. The evaluators will be a mix of coaches and qualified evaluators from the communities within Calgary NorthWest Basketball. An evaluation panel will make all final decisions regarding team assignments.
